Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups fresh, ripe guavas
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  • Wash the guavas and slice them into quarters.
  • Add all of the ingredients to a saucepan on medium-high heat. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly and mashing the guavas to release the juices.
  • Once boiling, turn down the heat to low and continue to stir for 5 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and allow the mixture to cool down.
  • Place the mixture into a food processor or blender and blend until smooth.
  • Pour the puree through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl. Gently press the mixture with the back of a spoon or a spatula to get as much puree as possible without any seeds.
  • Pour the guava puree into a sealable jar or container and allow to cool completely before sealing and refrigerating.

Notes

  • Add a splash of freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice to preserve color and flavor.
  • Guava purée lasts up to 7-10 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container.
  • You can freeze fruit puree. Ensure the puree has cooled completely before adding to a freezer-safe container. Fresh fruit puree will last in the freezer for 3-4 months.
Another tip is to freeze the guava puree in ice cube trays for easy portions whenever you need them!
