Print Recipe
- ¼ cup margarita salt
- 2 ounces blanco tequila (or tequila of choice)
- ½ ounce orange liqueur (I used Pierre Ferrand Dry Curacao)
- 2 ounces prickly pear syrup
- 1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice
- ¼ ounce agave syrup (optional for agave flavor)
- dried citrus wheel or lime wedge (optional garnish)
Prepare the glass with salt on the rim by placing agave syrup or water on the rim and then dipping the top of the glass into margarita salt. Fill the glass with fresh ice and set it aside.
Add fresh ice to the cocktail shaker along with tequila, orange liqueur, prickly pear syrup, lime juice, and agave syrup. Place the top on the shaker and shake for 10-12 seconds until nice and cold.
Strain into the prepared glass. If desired, garnish with a citrus wheel or lime wedge and enjoy. Cheers!
- Use Quality Tequila - Select a high-quality tequila, preferably a silver or blanco variety. The clean and crisp flavors of silver tequila always work well in a fruity margarita.
- Use Fresh Citus Juice - Margaritas have the best flavor when you use freshly squeezed lime juice. Bottled juice has added ingredients that change the fished drink.
- Use Margarita Salt - Enhance the sweetness and flavors of the prickly pear by adding a salty touch with margarita salt.
