Place the sugar and water into a saucepan over low-medium heat. Allow the sugar to dissolve completely while stirring constantly.
Once the sugar has completely dissolved, remove the pan from the heat and allow the syrup to cool.
Pout the syrup into a sealable jar or bottle and enjoy!
Notes
This syrup will last about 2 weeks when stored in the fridge in a sealed container. To prolong that shelf life, add a splash of vodka or Everclear and the syrup will last an additional 1-2 weeks.
Make sure the heat is low-medium to ensure the sugar fully dissolves but it does not come to a boil. Stir continuously to expedite the process without caramelizing the sugar
The short simmering time enhances the depth of flavor without making the syrup too thick or overly concentrated.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before transferring it to a storage container. This allows the flavors to intensify, contributing to the syrup's overall richness.
