Place the sugar and water into a saucepan over medium-high heat. Add all of the spices and allow the sugar to dissolve completely while stirring constantly.
Once the mixture is boiling, turn down the heat and simmer for 5-8 minutes. Remove from the heat and allow the mixture to steep for 30 minutes.
Strain the spices from the syrup and add to a sealable bottle or jar. Ensure the syrup has cooled completely before storing it in the fridge.
Notes
This syrup will last about 3-4 weeks when stored in the fridge in a sealed container. To prolong that shelf life, add a splash of vodka or Everclear, and the syrup will last an additional 1-2 weeks.
Allow the syrup to cool to room temperature before transferring it to a storage container. This allows the flavors to intensify, contributing to the syrup's overall richness.
