Ingredients Needed to Make Air Fryer Zucchini Pizza Bites

You only need a handful of ingredients to make these low-carb pizza bites. Of course, you will need fresh zucchini. You will also need your favorite pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and the toppings of your choice. My bites were made with pepperoni and black olive since it’s my family’s favorite, but you can use any pizza topping you enjoy.

Other Gluten-Free Pizza Bite Topping Ideas

The great thing about mini zucchini pizza bites is that the toppings are easy to customize to your liking. Here are a few more topping ideas. Of course, you will have to make the toppings smaller in some cases to fit on the zucchini.

  • fresh tomato slices and basil
  • pesto sauce instead of tomato sauce
  • mushrooms
  • ham and pineapple
  • salami
  • bbq chicken
  • bell pepper
  • onion

Tips for Air Fried Pizza Bites

  • These Zucchini Pizza Bites are best when eaten right away. They become soggy after a while so plan to make these right before serving.
  • Preheating your air fryer is not a necessity (unless otherwise noted by your manufacturer). However, it definitely helps speed up the cooking time and helps cook the food evenly.
  • The first step of softening the zucchini before adding the toppings is an important step to get the zucchini to be just the right texture for these pizza bites.
  • Non-stick spray is a must-have when air frying so don’t skip it. Not only does it help the food from sticking to the basket, but it also aids in the cooking of whatever you are air frying. You can use vegetable oil, olive oil, avocado oil, or whatever oil spray you like.
  • Aluminum foil is also a handy tool when air frying for easier clean-up. You will get some residual oil spray at the bottom of your air fryer as well as some food that may fall off. Use a small piece of foil to catch as much as you can.
  • Cooking times and temperatures may vary due to variations in equipment and may require adjustments.

WHICH AIR FRYER I USED FOR THIS RECIPE

I have the Mealthy CrispLid attachment for my Instant Pot and I love it! It fits right on top of my Instant Pot and has a glass lid so I can see what’s happening to my food while air frying. Instant Pot also makes an air fryer attachment. The attachments are nice because they don’t take up as much room as other appliances. The downside is, they are usually smaller than other air fryers.

There are a lot of different types of air fryers out there now, and each one is slightly different. You could also check out this air fryer that goes on your counter or this air fryer that is more like a toaster oven. Lastly, ovens are now being made with an air frying function which is very cool…and very expensive.
