This Boozy Eggnog Cocktail takes store-bought eggnog and kicks it up a notch with added brandy, amaretto, and freshly ground nutmeg. This cocktail is sure to be a hit at any holiday celebration or Christmas party.
In the great eggnog debate, usually, people either love it or hate it. I'm an eggnog lover through and through. I always have been. And now, as an adult, I like to enjoy my eggnog with a little extra kick just like my Apple Cider Martini.

Why I Love This Recipe
The great thing about this Eggnog Cocktail is that you can serve it shaken up cold or nice and hot. Add a little freshly ground nutmeg on top and this drink smells as good as it tastes just like on my Cinnamon Grapefruit Tequila Sour or my Tequila Sour with Campari.
I also love this cocktail because you can make a boozy version for the adults and a non-boozy version for the kids so everyone can celebrate together just like my Boozy Sugared Cranberries. You can also use your favorite alcohol variations for the ultimate holiday cocktail.

How to Make an Eggnog Martini
Add all of the cocktail ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice and shake for 10-15 seconds. Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass. Grate nutmeg over the top and serve immediately.
How to Make a Warm Eggnog Cocktail
Warm the eggnog in a saucepan over medium heat. You want it to be hot, but not boiling (you can also microwave the eggnog in a microwave-safe mug for 1-2 minutes depending on your microwave).
Once hot, pour the eggnog and liquors into a mug or heat-safe glass. Stir gently, top with whipped cream and nutmeg, and serve immediately.
Recipe FAQs
Yes, you can make a non-alcoholic version of this drink using non-alcoholic eggnog as the base. You can still enjoy the delicious flavors and spices without the alcohol. To make the drink more special, try adding rum extract or almond extract and add the garnish.
I suggest freshly grated nutmeg, cinnamon sticks, and/or whipped cream as my garnish choices. However, you could also use chocolate shavings, a gingerbread cookie, or a cinnamon-sugar rim on the glass.
Eggnog pairs well with many different alcohols including whiskey, vanilla vodka, Tuaca, scotch, Irish cream, and coffee liqueur.
Yes, you can use your own homemade eggnog for the cocktail. Keep in mind, that homemade eggnog uses quite a few ingredients and will take some extra prep time. Although homemade eggnog is delicious, I use store-bought eggnog for the convenience.
Best Tool For Freshly Grated Nutmeg
There are few things better than the smell of fresh nutmeg during the holiday season. This little Nutmeg Grater is the best tool to get the perfect amount of freshly grated nutmeg on your cocktail.
Expert Tips For This Recipe
