Key Guava Margarita Ingredients
Guava Puree - Guave puree is easy to make from fresh guavas (see instructions below or in the recipe card). However, if you don't have fresh guava, you can use store-bought guava puree or pulp.
Tequila - You can use any tequila you prefer for this margarita. I like to use silver tequila for margaritas because of its crisp flavor.
Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice - Freshly squeezed citrus juice is always best in a cocktail to get the best flavor possible.

How to Make Guava Puree
Step 1: Cut 3-4 guavas into about 1" pieces. Add them to a medium saucepot with ½ cup water over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally and mash the guava as it warms up. Remove the pan from the heat once the mixture is bubbling and the guava has mostly broken apart.
Step 2: Add the guava mixture to a food processor or blender and blend until smooth. be careful because the mixture will still be hot. Allow the mixture to cool before storing it in a sealable container in the fridge.

Expert Tips for This Cocktail
- Use Fresh Citus Juice - Cocktails are always best when you use freshly squeezed citrus juice, especially in margaritas. Bottle juice usually has added ingredients that will significantly change the flavor of the drink.
- Select Quality Tequila - Choose a high-quality tequila, preferably a silver or blanco variety. The clean and crisp flavors of good tequila will complement the fruity notes of the guava.
- Rim the Glass with Salt - Use margarita salt to add a salty element to this cocktail and enhance the flavors and sweetness of the guava.
- Experiment with Garnishes - Besides a lime wedge or guava slice, you can get creative with herbs like mint or rosemary or add a little creativity to the salt and add lime zest.
- Shake Vigorously - Make sure you shake this cocktail vigorously before straining to achieve the right level of dilution and to ensure the margarita is nice and cold.
- Serve in the Right Glassware - Use a margarita glass or a lowball glass with a wide rim to showcase your drink. Cocktail presentation enhances the overall drinking experience.
